Leapin’ Into the 4th Quarter!
2024 is a Leap Year!
Do you know why we have leap years? It all has to do with the sun. It takes the Earth about 365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 45 seconds to circle once around the sun. Since our calendar has only 365 official days, we need to add an extra day to our shortest month about every 4 years (technically, it isn’t exactly 4 years). Otherwise we lose almost 6 hours every year and after a century, our calendar would be off by about 24 days.
Here at the View, there are only a few more weeks left in the 3rd quarter. As we leap towards the 4th quarter, we are looking forward to some great activities. The Shamrock Shuffle Fun run is March 8 while PTA’s Hootenanny is coming up on April 5th. Students will begin to prepare for the end-of-year assessments such as our benchmarks and SC READY. Our 5th graders are registering for their 6th grade classes. It is always a busy time of year!
We appreciate the positive relationships we cultivate with our families. Thank you for your continued support of our students!
For children,

from our
school counselors
Please join us on Tuesday, April 2 @ 8:00am - 9:00am for a parent information session on "Emotion Regulation." The session will be led by Rachel Butler (School Psychologist) and Adriane Rabren and Kathy Taylor (School Counselors). Come hear about ways to support your child with controlling his/her emotions. Please remember to bring your ID and check in at the front office a little early as we will begin promptly at 8:00am. We hope to see you there!
Important Information for
Parents of 5th Graders
Registration for 6th grade has begun! Students are registered at the school for which they are zoned or accepted. If you move or accepted after registration is completed, please contact Mrs. Taylor so that we can ensure that students are registered correctly.
Your child’s teacher will recommend English (Language Arts and Reading) and Math courses for your child. If your student participates in Challenge, he or she will be signed up for English GT. All other students will take English 6. Teachers recommend students for either Math 6 (grade level math) or Math 6/7 (advanced math). Math 6/7 covers all 6th grade math and half of 7th grade in one year. Qualifications must be met in order to be eligible for this course.
Student’s elective forms are due Monday, Feb. 26. Mrs. Taylor will begin helping students register for these courses this week.
Please contact Mrs. Taylor at 355-7103 if you have questions.
